Task Three

Apply pre-production

Our video

Evaluation

We are very pleased with the outcome of our advert and product. Our advert came out the way we planned it and it wouldnt have worked so well if it wasnt for how hard we worked as a team.

From the beggining we had a vision of how we wanted out advert to look.  We stayed in regular contact and would make sure that we were all contributing equally towards the production.

At first, I was very nervous working with my production team as i was the only girl and thought thatt my ideas and views would not be taken seriously. But it was nothing like how i thought it would be. We all gave each other the chance to put our ideas across and gave each other constructive feedback. We became a team who supported one another and wanted to achieve the best.

We deligated roles between ourselves, we were all happy with the roles we had. This helped speed up the process of planning as we all did our bit and contributed well. The planning process was enjoyable and we felt no stress in completing it.

Once the planning was completed, we moved on to filming. We decided to film in our own time and had a meeting. We told each other when we would be free and decided to film at a time where we all were available. We went out to film and it took us three hours. We kept our focus and each took on our roles. Shamim was the actor and it didn't take him long to get into action. Both me and Shoiab took on the role of filming and using the ligting equipment. Filming was very fun and we enjoyed ourselves while working hard.

We watched the footage that we recorded and realised that we needed another scene and location. We decided to use Sidney Stringer Academy's pathway for the final scene. We agreed mutually on the location choice. We then filmed for one hour and were very pleased with the outcome.

We all contributed towards the editing process. This made the process very quick and efficient. Once was edited we were very proud of the outcome and believed that it would be very sucessfull. The advert showcases our product very well and shows off how hard we all worked.

Overall, I am very pleased with myself and the production group and ebjoyed working with them.

Task Two

Preparing for pre-production

Treatment

Our product is an all-in-one body wash called: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

What defines the product is that, the all-in-one wash includes a formula that can wash the whole body, including the hair.

The target consumers for the ‘all in one wash’ are MEN, with an age range of 13 (teenage hormones) to 30 (after this age, men become more mature and demand a more upmarket product). Our consumer base is the same as people that buy LYNX.

The body wash includes a hint of the fragrance ‘Hugo Boss Bottled’, which is a very popular fragrance among men.

The packaging of the product will mirror its rival. It will include the initials of the product, and an image of tigers face focusing on its eyes and a tigers scratch marks. The packaging will also specify that a hint of Hugo Boss is included in the product. The product will stand out above its rivals because of its unique labelling and product features.

The ‘Lines of Appeal’ in the advert will be comedy and humour to promote and raise awareness of the product. The advert will include a good-looking male as men will admire him and women would want a man like him. The product focuses on self-perception and pride, by using this product, men will be able to bring out the masculinity they have within them. The style of the advert will be dramatic and surreal; the product will show the audience what type of effect it will have on the character in the advert.

The advert will have a realist narrative as the advert will focus on the main character taking a shower using the product. The persuasive techniques we are using are gaining attention, a slogan, a jingle, repetition of the products name, female voice. Our aim is to grab the attention of the audience; we will do this making our advert memorable and by making sure our labelling is unique and eye-catching.

Our slogan is ‘STAY FRESH’; this will tie in with our narrative of staying clean. The advert will include a masculine male voice describing the product. The reason why we are going to feature a male’s voice is to grab the attention of the target audience which is men. Our advert will constantly repeat the name of product through the voice over.

The price of the product is £2.50, which is affordable. The product will appear in all supermarkets and retail stores. Our advert would appear on ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Our product will be on TV during the day, evening and night in order to reach its audience.

Synopsis

Our adverts focus is to sell our all-in-one body wash called Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. The advert starts off with an establishing shot; the shot shows the location of the advert and the character that is going to appear in the advert. The main character is a male; he is shown walking on a pathway.

The first scene focuses on the main character walking on a pathway. As the main character is walking there are a group of students in the background. You are able to see the group of students mocking the main character because of his body odour. There then is a close-up of the main character sniffing himself as he has recognised that he is carrying the horrible odour.

The next scene is filmed in his bathroom. There is a close-up of the shower head spraying out water. The shot then moves on to a close-up of the body wash as the main character has picked it up. A voice over appears while the shot is in focus. The next shot is mid-shot of the main character squeezing the body wash onto his hands. We then see a close-up of his back while he is rubbing the body wash onto it.

The next shot is a close-up of his head. He is massaging and washing his hair with the product. The shot is followed by a mid-shot where you can see the Hugo Boss Bottled fragrance on the corner of a bath. The body wash then appears next to the fragrance it is slammed on to the corner of the bath. The next shot is the main character washing his hair. At this point two facts about the product appear on top of the shot of his hair.

The final scene is located back at the first location which is Sidney Stringer School. He walks back on the pathway but this time feeling confident knowing he smells great and looks hot. He walks past the same group of students and this time he gains the attention from them in a positive way. They present gestures that show that he really does look good and smell great. As he is walking towards the school building, two girls are walking towards him. They are mesmerised by his good looks and smell that they turn around and follow after him.

My individual mood board

I focused my mood board on good-looking males. in order for a product to sell well the actor must be good-looking to grab the attention of women and men.

Our Logo

Above you are able to see our logo. The whole production group produced the logo together. As our product is going to be in all retail stores we wanted our logo to be unique amongst the rest of our competitors. Our initial point of the product is to make a man feel more masculine and feel that they look amazing. It took us a while to finally decide that this is how we wanted our logo to look.
